“Tikveš” – the most awarded winery in Southeast Europe and around the globe

Tikveš wines achieve remarkable success at esteemed wine competitions across the globe, including events in Great Britain, France, Germany, and China. With up to 100 awards and recognitions per year, nearly every wine in the extensive Tikveš portfolio has garnered a medal or other esteemed accolades.

Among these distinctions, some stand out as especially significant. For example, Barovo red (vintage 2015) earned a prestigious platinum medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2018, one of the world’s most influential wine competitions held in London, Great Britain.

Other noteworthy achievements are the gold medal and accompanying Trophy – Best among Macedonian Wines won by Tikveš premium red wine, Vranec Special Selection, made from the indigenous Vranec grape variety. This honor placed the wine within the exclusive top 1% at the International Wine Challenge (IWC), a highly-regarded competition also held in London. Known for its rigorous assessment methodology, the IWC is considered one of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions. The award carries even more weight as it recognizes a wine produced from a local grape variety.

The quality and authenticity of Tikveš wines have caught the attention of prominent wine critics worldwide, such as Robert Parker and his team at the Wine Advocate. As the only winery in Southeast Europe to achieve such high scores, Tikveš has received ratings of 93, 94, and 95 out of 100 for as many as eight of its wines. The first high score from Parker, 94 points, was awarded in 2012 to the premium red wine, Bela Voda. Just two years later, Parker and his team raised their rating to an impressive 95 points.

An outstanding success was achieved at the 2021 and 2022 Mundus Vini Spring Tasting in Germany. Terrase à l’Ombre red wine was awarded a Grand Gold medal, a reward presented only to the best wines in the world, which have been graded at least 95 points on a scale of 100. Furthermore, at this distinguished wine competition, Terrase à l’Ombre was proclaimed Best of Show Côtes du Rhône for two consecutive years, becoming the best wine in the Rhone Valley wine region, where 2 million hectoliters of wine are produced annually. Other Tikveš wines also carry the prominent Best of Show accolade awarded at Mundus Vini, including Barovo red, Bela Voda white and Vranec Luda Mara, all of which are winners of the Best of Show North Macedonia special prize.
